About Acton Treadway:
Overall, we would rather wear the things we take with us as opposed to “carrying” them. We just like having our hands free and our pockets empty.
We also take the approach of making things that last. Pattern design is part of the first stage of the creation of any bag. While other companies may draw a 2d sketch and hand it off to a factory, we build the design with our hands so we know that each part is in harmony with the rest of the bag. Whether a seam is folded under or over may make a huge impact on how long a product lasts and is not something that a drawing can convey. A rivet placed ¼’ away from where it should be could make the difference between the rivet adding strength or tearing a strap when you sling it over your shoulder. This is how we design longevity into our products. There are a multitude of ways that any “look” can be assembled- we choose the strongest possible way and often the design will “emerge” from its construction.
The leather is not processed with distressing or UV coatings or anything that “protects” the customer from feeling the real hide. The finish will wear and age according to the way you use the product.

About “Made in Los Angeles”, “Made in USA”:
It isn’t just an issue of quality. It is about the fact that we NEED it here in America right now. “Buy American” means more than being competitive these days. Most of the product is produced here in LA keeping transportation costs to a minimum.

About Sustainability:
We use Vegetable tanned, Eco Hides for our bags and are in the process of integrating organic cotton into all our fabric parts. We manufacture in the US. We get you to pull out old fabric from your past and give it life, instead of having it end up in the trash. We give back to kids via Acton’s Kids. Sustainability is a process and not a slogan- we are always refining our approach.
